The Position

Plan International Canada is seeking a high‑performing Manager, Donor Payments — a strategic and operational leader who will oversee the organization’s end‑to‑end donor payment ecosystem. This role carries significant responsibility for ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all donations received across Canada, safeguarding both donor trust and organizational accountability.

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance & Audit, you will bring deep expertise in managing large‑volume payment and donation processing environments, while providing thoughtful leadership to a team that plays a vital role in fueling Plan International Canada’s mission. You are an experienced people‑leader who excels in operational execution, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional partnership.

You are a forward‑thinking finance professional with a passion for operational excellence, team development, and inclusive leadership.

You are known for your analytical strength, operational discipline, and ability to communicate with clarity and confidence. You combine the rigour of a seasoned finance leader with the adaptability needed to thrive in a dynamic, mission‑driven organization - grounded in integrity, service quality, and collaborative partnership.

What success looks like?

  • Provide oversight of the accurate, timely, and efficient daily intake and processing of all Canadian donations across multiple platforms and channels.
  • Oversee depositing, reconciliation, and maintenance of donor payment records, ensuring the highest level of CRM data integrity within Salesforce.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with fundraising, finance, accounting, and operations teams to enable effective donor stewardship and organizational decision‑making.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a team of eight, fostering a culture of service excellence, accountability, and continuous process improvement across all donor payment activities.
  • Manage all operational processes ensuring that transaction flows, approvals, reconciliations, and controls meet corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal policies, financial controls, and compliance requirements, including PCI standards and data security protocols.
  • Serve as the internal Salesforce subject‑matter expert for donor payments — guiding the team on best practices, troubleshooting, developing automation opportunities, and championing system enhancements.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities for process optimization, automation, and risk mitigation, reducing manual touchpoints and elevating accuracy and efficiency.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in payment processing, donation processing, or similar high‑volume transaction environments.
  • Experience in the not‑for‑profit sector is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success as a people leader, with the ability to coach, motivate, and support high‑performing teams.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), and advanced analytical and Excel skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and highly organized approach, along with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • A strong customer‑experience orientation, with an understanding of how payment operations contribute to donor stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels — internal teams, cross‑functional partners, and external vendors.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to meet stringent reporting and processing deadlines.
  • A commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team culture.
