The Position
Plan International Canada is seeking a high performing Manager, Financial Services, who will play a significant operational role in managing key processes in the Finance team ensuring internal controls are in place to adequately safeguard the company's assets and financial health. Reporting directly to the Director, Procurement & Financial Services, you will be a qualified accountant with several years of both accounting and finance experience.
You will manage and help develop the team responsible for the treasury, banking and procurement of the organization.
What success looks like?
- Management support for all treasury and operational banking matters of the organization, including cash and working capital and liquidity management, acting as the operational contact with external stakeholders (banking relationships etc).
- Manage all payment processing with the team including Corporate Credit Cards, ensuring internal controls are robust and adhered to.
- Provide support to the organization’s procurement portfolio of approximately $40M+ annually, supporting where required on external contracting including RFPs, business case analysis, due diligence, vendor management and risk management/compliance.
- Provide people leadership and mentoring to a team of junior accounting staff.
- Responsible for ensuring business unit compliance with the organization’s Procurement Policy and guidelines, including travel and expense reimbursement. Support training and communication to achieve business compliance.
- Be an expert support and admin user of our Emburse Invoice, Purchase Order and Expense management tools. Providing support, training and guidance to our team as well as wider business, with a focus on problem solving and process enhancement in using the tools.
- Assess and monitor current financial operations and related internal control systems, recommending best practice improvements as needed.
- Support the Director in all insurance matters, including annual renewals, with both our insurance brokers and the global team.

Knowledge of technology operations, risk management and compliance are pluses.
- A recognized accounting designation
- 2-4 years of experience in finance management roles
- Experience in NGO organizations, Multi-National Organizations and Not for Profit Accounting is desirable
- Strong people management and interpersonal skills
- Sound technical accounting abilities
- Flexible, self-motivated, proactive and strong communication and presentation skills
- Proven self-starter with demonstrated, organizational, analytical and multitasking skills
- Focus on customer experience
- An ability to prioritize projects
- Ability to work with many/diverse individuals at various levels and departments within Plan Canada and also with external stakeholders
- Strong excel skills
- Experience with financial software (Great Plains is desirable) and Procurement and Expense Management software

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $ 64,000 and $ 80,000. We comprehensively evaluate a variety of factors to determine fair compensation, including experience, specific job-related skills, and relevant educational or professional training.
