The Position

Calling all social digerati, clever wordsmiths and social justice champions!

Plan International Canada is seeking a qualified and experienced Digital Community Manager and Social Writer to join us in advancing children's rights and equality for girls.

We are looking for someone who can lead and contribute to conversations about girls' equality. You excel at this because you believe in standing up for what is right, fair and just. Working in girls’ equality isn't just your work – it's your life's work because you know it leads to progress for all. And like us, you won't stop until we are all equal.

You are the ideal candidate if you have a strong vision for how to build and manage an authentic online community, and strategically put the plan into action every day. You also have a nuanced understanding of how to maintain Plan International Canada's public reputation.

In this role, you will start meaningful conversations about the issues affecting girls’ quality of life worldwide. You will help us champion and create significant moments of engagement with our existing supporters, plus all of the new supporters you welcome into the community.

The ideal candidate doesn't shy away from having difficult but respectful conversations. You excel at building a space where people gather to learn and think. Your goal is to raise awareness about the brand and what we do and ensure that people feel there's a place and opportunity to join us in making a difference.

This role is suited for lively conversationalists. You're the person who knows how to hold a room at a dinner party. People always want to talk to you, and you can make them listen because you're smart, witty and in the know.

In addition to your community management responsibilities, you will work closely with the Social Media Manager and Senior Manager, Digital Content and Editorial to envision and help execute our editorial strategy across plancanada.ca and its social platforms.

You will do this by writing, filming and posting engaging, thought-provoking and original posts across our social media platforms. You can help ideate, create and edit posts, whether they are in written or reel formats. All posts are co-created with the BCCS art team members as they drive the creative execution. When you're not posting on our feeds, you'll also introduce the brand to others by liking, sharing and participating in conversations with like-minded determined optimists online.

Your overall goal is to excel at representing Plan International Canada. Your mission is to ensure that these conversations demonstrate the power of a “plan” to overcome the injustices girls face and create a digital community of determined optimists who want to be part of the change.
