The Position

  • Take the lead on implementing youth-focused projects which engage young people throughout Canada to advocate for positive social change and girls’ rights locally, nationally and globally, with a primary focus on The Power Within initiative.
  • Ensure safeguarding standards are met in all aspects of programming.
  • Develop and execute a youth-friendly engagement strategy and lead the promotion of the online youth community platform to reach at least 800 young people.
  • Support the development of thought leadership content (e.g. op-eds, podcasts, speaking engagements) for staff and youth participants as well as curating and posting engaging content on various platforms.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute capacity building workshops and trainings for program participants while tracking participation numbers to meet project targets.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on best practices as it relates to youth leadership programming, meaningful youth engagement, alumni engagement, and stakeholder communications.
  • Must have attention to detail who is able to meet deadlines and adhere to protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain strong healthy working relationships with key stakeholders including partner organizations, corporate sponsors and youth engaged in projects.
  • Prepare internal and external communications, resources and reports tailored to stakeholders
  • Contribute towards the research and drafting of project concept notes, proposals, pitch decks, briefing notes, partnership agreements, monitoring and evaluation activities and other relevant documentation and activities
  • Provide support, including administrative responsibilities, to other projects as needed
  • Provide input into project charters and coordinate project activities involving internal potentially external resources
  • Provide significant input into the development and implementation of project/ departmental operating plans
  • This work will require work during evenings and weekends from time to time to accommodate the schedules of youth participants

What success looks like?

  • Youth-friendly resources are created that have supported young people in Canada in their skill and knowledge development.
  • Led digital workshops and trainings using an interactive experiential learning framework, that are adapted to the diverse needs of young people and incorporated youth feedback.
  • KPIs reach targets have been met and program scale (through outreach or other efforts) have grown.
  • All safeguarding procedures and practices for programming activities, such as risk assessments, have been completed and implemented
  • Conducted effective collaboration with inter-departmental teams, including technical advisors and compliance managers, in the development of project plans, resource development and program optimization.
  • Be a self-starter who can translate executive guidance into tangible outcomes.
  • Have excellent communication skills – written and presentation.

Able to work independently as well as cross-functionally in a matrix environment

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated success implementing youth-focused initiatives that engage a diverse group of young people in Canada, with an understanding of intersectionality and anti-oppressive practice as it relates to youth engagement programming.
  • Robust awareness and understanding of Canada’s domestic youth engagement and leadership programming ecosystem.
  • Project management experience, particularly working on complex projects with large cross-functional teams, with the ability to manage deadlines and deliver quality results.
  • Experience working with young people through youth program facilitation, workshop design and resource design, through both in-person and digital delivery
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with partners.
  • Experience with developing and implementing child and youth safeguarding measures.
  • Experience implementing multiple public engagement and outreach initiatives projects simultaneously, complying with partnership agreements, and building rapport with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, resourceful with extremely strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in a collaborative and matrix environment, is resourceful, innovative and has a “can do” attitude.

Plan International Canada is a hybrid workplace. You will work from the office and from home.  

 

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $ 50,000 and $ 62,000. We comprehensively evaluate a variety of factors to determine fair compensation, including experience, specific job-related skills, and relevant educational or professional training. Additionally, we ensure that compensation is equitable across our team and aligns with current market trends. This role also qualifies for an extensive benefits package and generous paid time off.
